Finally, after waiting for a long period of indoor activities, the season of barbeque is coming out.
Just to give a couple of information about myself I love nature and I love cooking in. Spring and summer are nothing without making at least 20 barbeque parties with my friends, kind of party that in Italy we usually call “Costinata”. This year we stated on early April. I was cooking chicken, veal, pork and vegetables from almost 3 hours, several people were already pleading to stop cooking, when a friend of mine arrived borrowing a 6 bottle (wine) case. Looking like a robber, few minutes later, another friend of mine took a bottle joining me near the fire/cooking place and. Double take: a bottle of Finca Dofì 1998, a great Spanish red. Incredible, I thought,
I filled a huge amazement, considering that a bottle like this costs a minimum of 60€ and is really unusual.
It is a blend of Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah . This wine was born in Priorat area in Spain (about 60 miles from Barcelona) thanks the knowledge of Alvaro Palacios, a Spanish winemaker of French School, who worked for Petrus, one of the most famous and expansive Bordeaux.
Fortunately the wine, had resisted to its old age. It was still perfect. Richness of aromas, smoothness and a well balanced body, let you think just two words: fine wine. But remember, the best way to taste these old wines is to pass them in a decanter in order to help the oxygenation and the development of its aromatic bouquet.
Alas, we did not have a decanter but anyhow we had high quality food, relax, nature, amity and… rare wine. It is the most I can expect! What is better than a “costinata”?
Cheers!!
